Rediculous? A Former Patriots Employee Thinks Some Bill Belichick Stories Are “Ridiculous”…

Michael Lombardi, a former employee of the New England Patriots, is displeased with the manner that his friend and former boss, Bill Belichick, was handled after he left New England.
And on Tuesday, 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Felger and Mazz” program was the venue for Lombardi, who worked with Belichick at the Cleveland Browns and as an assistant to the New England coaching staff from 2014 to 2016, to vent his frustrations.

Lombardi had a lot of criticisms, but he started by focusing on the media pundits’ discussion of Belichick’s poor performance when quarterbacked by someone other than Tom Brady. In his head coaching career, Belichick went 83-101 when Brady did not start at quarterback.

“The story is just ludicrous. It’s the most lazy story you could possibly tell,” Lombardi remarked. “Don Shula is the most successful football coach in history, and he and Danny Marino attended one Super Bowl together. You observe Andy Reid following the experiences of Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb. I believe that you have to go through a transitional phase at all times. The story that goes, “Oh, he’s no good but Brady was the reason,” is so clumsy. Every competent coach knows how to handle a quarterback.
