After David Bakhtiari, what should the Green Bay Packers do?…

It appears as though David Bakhtiari, the outstanding left tackle for the Green Bay Packers, has a grim future ahead of him. There’s just a lack of clarity on that front, which has led to some conjecture as to where, if not with the Packers, he would pursue his NFL career.

In response to a fan’s inquiry regarding the likelihood of Bakhtiari returning to the field for Green Bay, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic suggested that the offensive lineman and his former teammate Aaron Rodgers—who is currently the quarterback for the New York Jets—might cross paths again.
No. Though everything is conceivable, if Bakhtiari returns, I’d be shocked. Although everyone believes that Bakhtiari’s most recent knee surgery is the last thing he needs to be cleared for, the Packers can no longer rely on him to be healthy all the time. In addition, by selling or cutting Bakhtiari, the Packers may clear up a ton of cap room.

I expect a release because teams know the Packers would cut him if they can’t trade him, but you never know what the Jets will do for the close friend of Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers can decide whether to trade or cut Bakhtiari.

It should be mentioned, though, that Bakhtiari has a significant cap cost because he agreed to a $92 million, four-year extension with the team back in 2020. Although the Packers were able to free up some cap room by turning some of his salary into bonuses, they still owe $7.39 million. It’s improbable that other teams would invest as much money on a gifted but frequently injured player.
