While the parent company of the energy drink giant is treating the matter seriously, Horner vehemently denies the accusations leveled against him. Despite the ongoing investigation, he retains his position as team principal. Horner has held this role since Red Bull’s Formula 1 debut season in 2005, and the upcoming 2024 campaign marks the team’s 20th year on the grid.
Scheduled for Friday, the hearing will see Horner meet with an independent investigator appointed by Red Bull to oversee the case. Horner has engaged his own legal counsel and will have the opportunity to present his side of the story. Initially planned to occur at Red Bull’s headquarters in Milton Keynes, the location of the hearing has been changed due to heightened media scrutiny surrounding the case. Following the hearing, the investigator will take the weekend to review the evidence before presenting their findings and recommendations to Red Bull early the following week. Red Bull Racing aims to resolve the matter before their 2024 season launch event scheduled for the following Thursday, ahead of pre-season testing starting on February 21 and the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 2.
