Exciting Winning! NHL roundup: Canucks lose to the Bruins…

In a Thursday night meeting between the top two teams in the NHL, the Boston Bruins defeated the visiting Vancouver Canucks 4-0 thanks to goals from Danton Heinen and Brad Marchand in the first period, and 17 saves from Linus Ullmark.

With goals by Morgan Geekie and Pavel Zacha early in the second period, the Bruins, who have won three of their past four games, scored three goals in the first minute of play. Zacha was also involved in Geekie’s goal assist.

Each of David Pastrnak and Charlie Coyle had two assistants that helped out with the Boston offense. Coyle has scored points in ten straight games.

Vancouver’s 12-game scoring streak (10-0-2) ended as they were shut out for the first time since the season’s third game. In the loss, Thatcher Demko made 21 saves.
Five hurricanes, two avalanches

at the opening 17 minutes of Carolina’s victory over Colorado at Raleigh, North Carolina, Martin Necas scored his first career hat trick.

Teuvo Teravainen provided three assists and Michael Bunting and Seth Jarvis scored for the Hurricanes, who won for the fourth time in five games. After giving up two goals in the first period, goalie Pyotr Kochetkov was substituted, but he returned for the third when Antti Raanta suffered a lower body injury. Raanta stopped each of the nine shots in the second half, while Kochetkov finished with 16 saves.

Late in the first period, Zach Parise, playing in his third game for the Avalanche, and Samuel Girard scored goals in a five-second span. Despite being hit for three goals by Necas in the first four shots he faced, Alexandar Georgiev made 22 saves in the end.

Devils 3, Flames 5,
In Newark, New Jersey, Jacob Markstrom had 37 saves as Calgary won.

For the Flames, Noah Hanifin recorded two assists while Connor Zary and Andrew Mangiapane each scored a goal and an assist. The other goals for Calgary came from Andrei Kuzmenko, Kevin Rooney, and Mikael Backlund. The Flames have won their last three games.

For New Jersey, Nico Hischier scored one goal and provided an assist, while Ondrej Palat scored two goals. On all three of the Devils’ goals, Jesper Bratt received an assist. 25 of 29 shots were stopped by Vitek Vanecek.

Panthers 4, Washington 2

In Sunrise, Florida, Florida defeated Washington with a goal from Ryan Lomberg with 5:32 remaining in the third period, sealing the team’s sixth consecutive defeat.

Sam Reinhart, Eetu Luostarinen, and Matthew Tkachuk each scored one goal and had two assists for the Panthers, who have won five of their last six games. Sergei Bobrovsky made 21 saves.
Alex Ovechkin of the Capitals scored for the third game in a row. Despite only having 11 goals this season, Ovechkin is second only to Wayne Gretzky in career goals scored (833). Darcy Kuemper made 37 saves and Anthony Mantha scored for Washington as well.

Three Golden Knights, two Coyotes

In Tempe, Arizona, Vegas scored three goals in the first frame and managed to hold on for the victory.

The Golden Knights are 8-2-1 in their last 11 games and have scored goals from Jonathan Marchessault, Nicolas Hague, and Chandler Stephenson. For the victory, Adin Hill made 20 saves.

The Coyotes have dropped their last four games and their scorers are Jason Zucker and Clayton Keller. After giving up three goals on six shots, Connor Ingram was replaced in the first period by Karel Vejmelka (28 saves).

Lightning 2, Islanders 6,
At Elmont, N.Y., New York thrashed Tampa Bay with goals and assists from Mathew Barzal and Bo Horvat.

Under head coach Patrick Roy, the Islanders moved to 3-2-1 with goals from Noah Dobson, Barzal, and Kyle Palmieri in the first period and Ryan Pulock, Horvat, and Casey Cizikas in the second. Ilya Sorokin, the goalie for New York, made 18 saves.

The Lightning, who had won three straight games before the All-Star break, lost both ends of a back-to-back in New York despite goals from Nikita Kucherov and Brandon Hagel. Jonas Johansson amassed eighteen saves.

Jets 1, Flyers 4,

Host Philadelphia defeated Winnipeg thanks to a single goal, one assist, and one fight from Travis Konecny, who also scored a point.

The Flyers, who have won two straight since the All-Star break, were led by a goal from Tyson Foerster and one each from Morgan Frost and Ryan Poehling. For the victory, Samuel Ersson made 28 saves.
The lone goal for the Jets, who have dropped five straight games (0-4-1) came from Kyle Connor. Laurent Brossoit, the goalie for Winnipeg, turned away 17 shots.
