Update: During the Panthers game, Spencer Carbery yelled at Max Pacioretty…

The Washington Capitals have dropped their last six games. Tensions seem to be increasing right now.

A fiery Spencer Carbery was seen on the bench late in the second period of the Capitals’ 4-2 loss to the Florida Panthers, as captured by the Monumental Sports Network cameras.

With 3:20 remaining in the game and the Caps leading 2-1, the 42-year-old rookie head coach of the Capitals had a few harsh words for veteran 36-year-old Max Pacioretty.
I’m not an expert lip reader, but it initially seems like Carbery is urging his group to move forward by saying, “Let’s go! Let’s go.” He then starts talking to Pacioretty. The former captain of the Canadiens gives Carbery a brief glance before hastily averting his gaze. Former minor league players have characterized Carbery as a fierce competitor.

On the ice for the Panthers’ opening goal of the game, Pacioretty found it difficult to go out to the point in order to block a shot by Gustav Forsling. After setting up shop in the crease, Matthew Tkachuk used his skate to deflect the puck past Darcy Kuemper.
Pacioretty finished his shift at 16 seconds and did not go back to the ice following the goal. Pacioretty’s skating time in the second half was a mere 2:43. In the stanza, only Michael Sgarbossa (2:10) and Anthony Mantha (2:40) saw less ice.

With just one goal and six assists in his first 14 games with the Capitals, Pacioretty skated for just 12:54, his third-lowest amount of ice time of the season against the Panthers.
