update: Arizona Cardinals address 3 needs in Matt Miller’s latest 2-round NFL mock draft…

Now that the Senior Bowl has concluded, the 2024 NFL Draft mock drafting process is moving forward. In the most recent two-round mock draft conducted by ESPN analyst Matt Miller, the Arizona Cardinals target three areas of the team that want improvement.

What gaps do the Cardinals need to fill in Miller’s NFL mock draft for 2024?

Marvin Harrison Jr., an Ohio State star, is slated to go to the desert at No. 4 overall by mock drafter Miller, who even went so far as to compare him to a past Cardinals No. 1 wide receiver.
Miller claims:

With patience, the Cardinals may select what is likely the best overall player available in the draft. Harrison, a 6-foot-4 receiver with outstanding all-around technique, will replace DeAndre Hopkins as Kyler Murray’s go-to wide receiver right away.
In fact, considering Harrison’s fluid route running, controlled physique, and capacity to play above the rim in the end zone, I would compare him to a taller version of Hopkins. He has recorded over 1,200 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in back-to-back seasons, and with Marquise Brown approaching free agency, similar output would be appreciated.
When it comes to bolstering the offense, Miller doesn’t stop there. Using Arizona’s second first-round pick, which was obtained via a draft-day trade with the Houston Texans in April of last year, Miller selects offensive tackle JC Latham of Alabama.

The draft analyst thinks that Paris Johnson Jr., a first-round pick in 2023, may return to left tackle after spending his rookie season playing on the other end, after the Cardinals lost left tackle D.J. Humphries to an ACL tear.
Latham, a three-year starter, is strong on the road at 340 pounds, but he also possesses pass protection finesse and knows how to effectively use his length to close off outside channels. Latham could have been selected in the top 15 if he had less spring in his feet when playing in 2023. However, he would be a steal at this late stage if the Cardinals can return him to his 2022 levels. Harrison (at No. 4) and Latham would be a great addition to the offensive line.
Cornerback Nate Wiggins of Clemson rounds out the Cardinals’ two-round selection at No. 35.

Although Arizona did see a lot of run last season from three rookies (Kei’Trel Clark, Garrett Williams, and Starling Thomas), cornerback is still a major need.

In this scenario, the Cardinals may start with the defense, which lacks a playmaker at cornerback, after adding a wide receiver and right tackle in the first round. At the combine, 6-foot-2 Wiggins is predicted to run the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds. He can dominate at the line of scrimmage, is perfect for tactics that favor man coverage, and in 2023 he intercepted interception two passes.
