Latest Update: Packers hire Derrick Ansley as defensive pass game coordinator…

According to reports, the Packers have expanded their group of defensive coaches.

Derrick Ansley, a former defensive coordinator for the Chargers, has been hired by the Packers to oversee their pass defense, according to ESPN.com’s Rob Demovsky. Under new coordinator Jeff Hafley, the Packers are strengthening their defensive staff. This week, Anthony Campanile was hired to serve as both the run game coordinator and linebackers coach.

Prior to the 2023 season, Ansley worked with the Chargers for two years as the defensive backs coach before taking over as defensive coordinator. When head coach Brandon Staley was sacked late in the regular season, he assumed responsibility for calling the defensive plays in that capacity, although he had not done so before.

Ansley will no longer be in charge of play calling, but he will still have the opportunity to help the Green Bay defense get better.
