Breaking: Spurs trade Doug McDermott to Pacers in three-team deal

The Indiana Pacers have engaged in a significant player exchange, sending shooting guard Buddy Hield to the Philadelphia 76ers and securing forward Doug McDermott from the San Antonio Spurs in a complex three-team transaction.

In this deal, the Sixers traded guard Furkan Korkmaz, along with second-round draft picks in 2024 and 2029, along with cash considerations, to the Pacers. Additionally, they sent forward Marcus Morris Sr., a 2029 second-round pick previously belonging to the Los Angeles Clippers, and cash considerations to San Antonio as part of the arrangement.

This move reunites McDermott with the Indiana Pacers, marking his return to the team for a second stint. He previously played for the Pacers from 2018 to 2021.

McDermott, currently 32 years old, has primarily served as a bench player for the San Antonio Spurs this season, featuring in 46 games. He has maintained an average of 6.0 points per game while showcasing an impressive 43.9 percent shooting accuracy from beyond the arc.

Across his extensive career spanning 637 games, including 94 starts, with teams such as the Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Pacers, and Spurs, McDermott has maintained a career scoring average of 9.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Notably, he has boasted a notable 41.2 percent shooting efficiency from long range throughout his career.
