Breaking: Frederic Vasseur now wants to bring a 49-year-old former colleague to Ferrari

The anticipation for the 2025 Formula One season is already building, with Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari being a major talking point. Dutch journalist and commentator Nelson Valkenberg, speaking on The Race Podcast, has shared insights into the 49-year-old’s future.

Despite Red Bull’s dominant performance last season, their rivals are expected to make significant strides to challenge them this year. Red Bull’s success can be attributed to their talented team, including renowned technical director Adrian Newey and technical director Pierre Wache.

Wache’s expertise has caught the attention of Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur, who previously worked with him at Sauber. Vasseur’s relationship with Wache, coupled with Wache’s past collaboration with Lewis Hamilton, may have influenced Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari in 2025.

Valkenberg highlighted the pressure on Red Bull’s Christian Horner to resolve internal issues, as Vasseur is likely to target Wache for Ferrari’s technical team. Stability within the team is crucial for Ferrari’s future competitiveness against the likes of Red Bull.

Vasseur understands the importance of having the right personnel at Ferrari, and recruiting top talent from Red Bull and Mercedes will bolster their chances of success. Drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be eager for these changes to take effect sooner rather than later.

While 2025 holds promise for Ferrari, the major regulation changes in 2026 may present an even better opportunity for them to secure another championship title.
