Breaking: Damian Lillard shares his thoughts on attempting to match Michael Jordan’s All-Star record

Milwaukee Bucks’ standout Damian Lillard has described his recent triumphs in the 3-Point Contest and the NBA All-Star Game MVP as a “remarkable achievement.” This feat has only been accomplished once before, by Michael Jordan in 1988, making Lillard’s accomplishment all the more impressive. In a conversation with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Lillard expressed his gratitude for being mentioned alongside Jordan and emphasized the difficulty of achieving such success in a highly competitive environment.

In the 3-Point Contest, Lillard scored 26 points in the final round, securing his victory with a buzzer-beater that surpassed Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks. Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves also made it to the finals. The following evening, Lillard led his team with 39 points, contributing to the Eastern Conference’s record-breaking 211-point win over the Western Conference. Among his contributions were 11 three-pointers, including a dramatic half-court shot.

This weekend was a significant milestone in Lillard’s career, marking his eighth All-Star appearance. He hopes to use this momentum to improve his performance, as he has averaged 24.6 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in 51 games but has struggled with shooting percentages of 42.3 percent from the floor and 34.1 percent from the perimeter.
