Reality! Can Miles Sanders Bounce Back in 2024?…

The Carolina Panthers are banking on the veteran running back to make a comeback following a disappointing 2023 season…

Miles Sanders, who secured a significant contract as a free agent last offseason, failed to meet expectations for the Carolina Panthers. By Week 6, he had lost his starting position to Chuba Hubbard and struggled to reclaim it.

Sanders’ performance in 2023 was far below his previous standards, with career-low rushing yards of 432 and an average of 3.3 yards per carry on 129 attempts. This decline came after a standout season with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he recorded career highs in rushing yards (1,269) and touchdowns (11) on 259 carries.

Throughout the season, Sanders openly acknowledged his frustration with his performance, expressing his dissatisfaction on social media platforms like Instagram.

While acknowledging Sanders’ underperformance, it’s important to note that the Panthers’ offensive struggles extended beyond just one player. The team lacked cohesion, identity, and faced injuries upfront, affecting overall performance.

Sanders’ track record in Philadelphia demonstrates his potential as a dynamic running back, averaging 927 yards per season rushing and 235.5 yards receiving over four years. With potential improvements to the offensive line and key players returning from injury, there’s optimism that Sanders can rediscover his form, especially under a more cohesive coaching staff.

While Hubbard showed promise in the latter part of the season, averaging over 80 yards in four of the last six games, his yards per carry (3.8) didn’t significantly surpass Sanders’ (3.3). Despite this, adding another physical back to the roster for short-yardage situations could benefit the Panthers’ running game.
